Cambodia, Celebration of the Tuft Cutting, kôr chuk

Toupee Cutting Festival

The kôr chuk, or "tuft shaving," is a mandatory ritual festival for everyone, essential for princes and princesses, and it marks the entrance of young boys and girls into the adult world.

No child can or should be admitted into a monastery as a samnêr or turn, that is to say, as a novice, before having received this kind of sacrament.
